Many of you shared your concerns about the current retail clothing trends for little girls and teen girls. The revealing nature of the styles and the slogans which convey attitude or sexual double entendre were of particular concern to you. You also shared your struggle with finding clothing that was stylish and fun, yet modest. Some of you even addressed this issue on your own blogs.
I've created the Moms for Modesty Mission Statement. If you agree with the Statement, please sign it by leaving your affirmation in the comments of this post. This is not an issue that is exclusively Christian in nature, though I am a Christian mom.
It is a parenting issue, a mom issue.
Many retailers, marketing and PR firms review mommy blogs for trends and opinions. If we speak as one we may be able to effect change. Please let your blogging friends know and if you normally don't leave a comment, please leave one now.
- As a Mom for Modesty I believe in common-sense modesty for girls and young women.
- I believe in refraining from sexualizing our girls and young women.
- I believe that it is unwise and unfair to taunt boys and young men by permitting my daughter(s) to dress in an immodest manner.
- I believe that true beauty comes from within and I strive to teach my daughter(s) this truth.
- I will loyally shop at retailers that provide girls' and young womens clothing that is modest, affordable and stylish.

«Oldest ‹Older 1 – 200 of 1153 Newer› Newest»*blush* I'm first? LOL You can SO count me in!
You have my support!
Count me in!
I'm in
I'm in, 100%.
Thank you, Jules.
I'm In!
Signing on!
I agree, 100%
So totally in right here. I go WAY out of way to support stores that help me dress my daughter like a little girl.
You have my undivided support on this!
You have my support!! I don't have a little girl but I firmly believe what you are doing!
Amen!
I am in!
Amen to that!!
Amen!
I'm SO on board with this! I will avoid retailers who sell trampy clothing for little girls, I will seek out retailers who offer cute AND modest clothing, and I'm vocal about it!
I agree with this blog completely! Whatever happened to the adorable and modest outfits that little girls wore during the middle of the previous century?
It's getting to the point where I'm gonna have to go through Grandma's patterns and make their clothes.
As a mom to 2 girls, I am so on board with this. I am disgusted by the clothes they market to little girls.
You have my support!
“…likewise also that women should adorn themselves in respectable apparel, with modesty and self-control, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly attire, but with what is proper for women who profess godliness—with good works.” ~1 Timothy 2:9-10 (ESV)
I want my daughter to grow up to be a godly woman - and to dress accordingly!
Thanks for starting this - and for re-posting it! I'm in.
I signed the first time and I'm doing it all over again to continue my support.
What a fabulous idea. I'm in!
Ditto with all of these other comments. I agree 100%!
I agree with this 100%! I am shocked at the immodest clothing for young girls. Thank you for continuing this!
This is such a great thing. Thanks and count me in.
Count me in!
I was wondering about this as I see the buttons around. I agree.
I wholeheartedly support this mission!
I'm in.
Me too!
I am a Mom for Modesty!
Count me in, too! Thanks Jules for hosting : )
Yes!
You've got my support. I've got two blogs where I posted the button.
www.yuriar.com/wp
and

I totally agree. What a great idea.
I am still in!
You said it!
no little girls at our house...yet. However, you have my full support!
Alesha

I have 3 daughters - you definitely have my support too!
It is a struggle to dress daughters these days. Thank you for giving us moms a platform that will, hopefully, make an impact!
I sign wholeheartedly!
Signing up. One question? Do you have a list of acceptable retailers?
Hugs,
Melinda
No question about it. This is RIGHT and TRUE.
I'm in.
we agree completely!
And if I might add to the mission statement for our family:
If modest clothing can not be found we will sew our own!
I cannot fathom why it is so hard to find modest little girl dresses!
As the mom of 3 girls, count me in!
I'm in!
I'm officially signing this again, happily!
As a mom of three girls, I couldn't agree more! No child should have the word "Hottie" written across her behind (Yes, I saw a pair of sweat pants, size 5, with that on them just a few days ago!)
I wholeheartedly support this movement, and actively avoid retailers with inappropriate clothing for children.
Thanks, Jules.
Thank you! Count me in

Count me in!
With 4 daughters you'd better believe I support you!! Blessings, Kim
You have my signature!!!
I am in agreement
I absolutely agree! I have 3 daughters and 1 son. You can count me in!
Count me in!
This is great...I'm praying for huge support here!
First off, I just want to say I am totaly behind you 100%! I am expecting my first little girl very soon!
Also, I just started as a fashion consultant for ModBe Clothing. It's a clothing company all about modesty for little girls through to adults. They sell undershirts and things to make clothes more modest as well as a variety of modest shirts, bathing suits and even jeans now! If anyone is interested, they can contact me at cnahorvath@yahoo.com. The website for the clothes is www.modbeclothing.com.
Me too!
I agree!
Yes, I support Moms For Modesty 100%.
I am on board. I have all boys and I know how immodesty affects them. I will only buy modest clothing for my nieces and future grandchildren.
Barbara H. @ Stray Thoughts
I whole-heartedly agree!
I totally agree!
I only have little boys, but I'm still in!
I signed the 1st time and didn't realize you had moved. So glad I found out so I can update my blog and you may definitely count me in on this again!
-Heather
I whole heartedly agree.
I'm in. Thank you.
I completely agree!
I support you! I definitely agree that girls and teens should dress modestly. I also think mothers need to be an example by dressing appropriately too. What good is it to tell a little girl she can't when mommy does?
Signing again, and fully support the effort. It'll help my boys too!
Signing again and I'd sign again and again and again if I could.
Thank you.
Gladly signing again.
Thank-you so much for doing this! I completely support you!
100% support here!
Thanks Jules, I'm always in when in comes to Moms for Modesty. ~Yvonne
My daughter is only 6 months old, but I'm behind you all the way. Count me in. I'll sew for her or dress her in her brother's hand-me-downs if that's what it takes, but I'm not going to dress her like a little skank! She's my precious daughter!
I totally agree!
I'm not even a mom yet, but I certainly agree with everything in your Modesty Mission Statement.
Thank you!!!!
Oh, I'm in! This is a huge issue for me - my daughter is only 17 months, but I'm already picky about what she wears.
I am passonately supportive of anything that promotes modesty for our children - boys and girls!
It's not just the cloths that need to be more modest it is the dolls too. You have my full support.
yes - thank you!
I wholeheartedly agree. My daughter is still small, so it's not as much of a problem to find modest clothing, but my friend's daughter is a tall tween and they have the hardest time finding age-appropriate clothing for her to wear.
I totally agree with this statement. Thank you for taking the time to create this.
Oh yeah! I have a 5 year old and it is such a challenge to find age appropriate clothing. I had to go to several stores last Easter to find shoes without a high heel!
YES!
You've got my support!
Amen!
Glad to find this and I agree!
I support your cause. Keep it going!
I'm on board!
I agree.
WTG!! I'm In!
I agree!
I agree!!
I completly agree with this! Mary Kate & Ashley are the bane of my existence!

There's enough time to be a grown woman, let them be little and COVERED! Count me in!
As a mom to 5 daughters and a son, let me say: You betcha!!! Way to go.
We found a good source for pretty, modest girls' clothing: www.elegancenew.com I don't work for them or anything--just really like their clothes.
Yes ma'am. I support this completely. I posted the buttons/links and will do a post later this week.
I agree 100%!!!!
I'm in.
You have my FULL support!
I agree 100%
I am thrilled to be part of this group that is standing up and protecting girls and women! Yay!
Still in!!
I stand with you! Consider me signed! :)
I'm totally in . Ten years from now I'm hoping my daughter's can sign this petition for themselves.
I'm 100% in support of this effort!
I agree and I am officially signing up!
Yes, amen. I wholeheartedly sign. Thank you!!!
Good! Thanks for doing this. With my 2 daughters this is an ever present issue. Good to know we aren't alone!
As a mother of five boys and one young daughter, I am definitely enthusiastic about signing this petition! Thank you, and God bless!

This could save a lot of embarrassement for our daughters! They feel so self-conscious about how they look as it is already!
All i can say is, it is about time!! I am a mom for modesty!
Count me in!

Right on! I'm a Mom to a Pure Fashion graduate, and am so glad to see this message spreading.
I'm IN! I have two sons and a daughter and I am committed to ALL three of them dressing modestly--unfortunately, there is a lot of inappropriate clothing out there for boys as well.
Absolutely! I'm with you on this one!
Have 4 daughters! Thank you for this. I hope it changes something! :)
count me in.
As a grandma with 3 granddaughters, I'm eager to support this cause.
Signing on!
I fully support these statements! Why should we put our little babies in bikinis? They need their bodies covered!
absolutely! Wonderful. You have my support!!!
I wholeheartidly support this! As a mother of two young girls I am afraid clothing is just going to get worse as they get older.
I whole-heartedly agree with every single word of the mission statement and will support it with all my being!
ABSOLUTELY!!
Yes!!! I agree 100%
Jules - Thank you for continuing to be a strong voice and advocate for modesty and femininity. God bless you.
100% correct! I want to see girls portayed as innocent and beautiful again instead of miniature women.
I agree! Count me in!
Amen! I have 2, young girls and shopping is very difficult. We look LONG to buy clothing that looks like "little girls". I refuse to compromise my beliefs for "fashion" and poor taste. Thank you for this!
Mama to 4 girls so far... I am in!
Thank you for all that you are doing on this issue. Go Girl, I'm with you!
I am totally in agreement as a mother or 4 girls and 1 boy and another girl due in a couple of weeks I feel very strongly about this issue. Thanks.Amanda.
I totally agree! I have a 5yr old girl and have to search for appropriate clothes I can afford. I also dislike the attitude slogans on t-shirts that speak for our girls so poorly. What is wrong with liking school? or treating adults with respectful tones? Yikes. I can only imagine how much worse it gets in the jr department!
I am on board for sure!
Love it!
Thanks!
I agree completely with the mission statement. I live in Italy where the clothes for girls and young women are even more suggestive than in the U.S. I am now pregnant with my first child, a girl, and it is so discouraging to see how sexualized and objectified girls and women are in my new country!
As the mother of a son, I completely agree.
I'm in...thanks for upholding a great standard of decency for girls!
I've often said I am so thankful I only have boys as it is nearly impossible to shop for little girls now-a-days. Excellent idea!
Count us in and thank you.
I agree. Count me in!
I'm supporting you all the way!
100% with you!
So glad to have found this site! I will definitely be sending an email around to all my friends & family to have them come sign too!! Thank you!!
You've got my support once again!
I completely agree
Yay! I don't have any girls *yet* but I do have a boy who will grow up and appreciate this!
What a wonderful idea!
Yes, I support this too.
absolutely.
I am certainly a mom for modesty! Thanks for standing up!
I am in total agreement!
Amen and amen. May we train up a generation of godly young women willing to live chaste and pure lives as a sacrifice and a sweet smelling savor to their God.
Absolutely! I'm with you.
I signed the "original", so I'm back again to show continued support... Not just a mom for modesty, but a FAMILY for modesty. :-)
Thank you for this! I am SO in.
You got it! I agree 100%. My 4 year old is exactly that - a 4 year old. And I like to dress her in super cute, stylish, FOUR YEAR OLD clothing! :)
I'm in, again. :)
Thank you for this. I am so in. And she specifically said it wasn't a religious issue..its a parenting issue. A mom issue. Good for you!
I am so glad you started this!! This is a problem for all girls and women across the board!! And if retailers didn't provide this kind of clothing in sizes to fit our little girls, then they wouldn't be wearing it!
I'm not a Mum (yet) but I work with young children and I agree that we should be doing so much more to keep little girls as little girls.
I was in before and I'm definitely in now.
I totally agree. I'm in!
I'm right there with ya. I'm not a mom yet but I have two nieces and other close little girlfriends. I can't stand that idea of them not having the option to cover their young bodies with modest clothes. Thanks so much for your stand!
Count me in!! So glad to have found this blog!
Totally in, does this cover toys as well....Bratz, anyone...awful.
Count us in. Not just for my Daughter, but also for my Sons.
I am so, so with you.
I've been meaning to sign this for awhile. Better late than never, right?
Absolutely! Count me in! It kills me to see little girls in clothing ads that are embarrassing to just look at, let alone, think about buying!
I am so in agreement with this! I am appalled at the clothing that is common place these days! What makes it worse is they cover these immodest clothes with sparkles and cute animals that are designed to attract the idea of our girly girls. GRRR!!!
Signing on the dotted line.
Re-signing up, wholeheartedly!
Well, I'm not a mom. I'm a teacher and aunt of many girls, though, and I want you to know that I am 110% behind this effort. Thanks for your work to promote it.
I'm with you
I have a 7 week old baby girl, and even now I shudder at some of the girl clothes. Totally with you.
I am so for this!
I agree - posted an announcement of this on my blog.
http://lizas-eyeview.blogspot.com/2007/11/moms-for-modesty.html
This is wonderful and I wholeheartily agree!
Amen sister! It's terrible that I have to choose to buy my 13 year old daughter stuff she shouldn't be wearing at any age! I miss the days of Carter and Healthtex!
Oh yes, I have 3 daughters and it is so hard to find clothing that is somewhat stylish and yet something I'm willing to let my kids be seen in. I'm with you wholeheartedly!
I totally agree. So does my husband.
Amen, sister!!
Count me in too, thank you
I agree!
I'm in.
I have 2 boys and 1 daughter. I see this issue from both sides.
Thank you!
I post a button!
Amen! You have my support.
In full agreement here. Thanks for doing this!
I'm in! My daughter is five and my son is nine so we have both sides of this situation at our house! Blessings on you and yours!
I'm in ... count me in!
Yes I heartfully agree!
Count me and my four daughters in %100!!
I have a four-year-old daughter, and I am so very much in agreement with the mission statement!
Count me in for all the girls in my life as well as my son's who can be tempted.
